Nostalgic Games We Played When We Were Kids (we miss it. trust me!)

Nostalgic games are cool, but here are some we played. Some we made up, others we didn't. Now for some personal faves:

1. Tacs and Stacs

I made this game up for my personal enjoyment in school, during recreational breaks. We would pass around a Tic-Tac over the course of 12 seconds, and the person who would have it at the end of the timer would be eliminated. If you win, you got to eat your Tic-Tac. It was this cool variant of "Pass the Bean Bag" we created for entertainment.

Me? I have stopped playing it, but some of my childhood friends do. Fun comes, fun goes. That's just how it works, and you can't always get the same thing to feel good forever.

2. Hide-and-go-seek

Hide-and-go-seek was one of my favorites. I'm sure you know it, but in case you didn't grow up in the Western world/Hemisphere, you might not. In hide-and-go-seek, you get a few good people, and they each hide in a spot. One is the seeker though. They would... normally count to 10, but just in case people were STILL looking for hiding spots, they would count to 20. Or 30. Or extend to big 100 and then the hiders are gone lickety-split. And the seeker looks for hiders. There was a variant where if a hider was found, they join the seeker's squad.

However, there was a big, spoiled caveat. One of our friends, Lou, after counting, said, "Are you ready?" to all the seekers. The hearing gave secrets of locations - or at least broad rooms - that people were in away. But I thought they said:

Ready or not, here I come!

You heard - or, should I say, saw - the words there. It basically implies whether you're ready to hide or not, the seeker will still find you. Look how contradicting. It almost feels like cheating.

3.  Rock, Paper, Scissors, Shoot!

This was the peak of fairness back in the day. Let's say you wanted to do one thing, but who you're talking to wants to do another. Just play rock, paper, scissors, shoot! and who wins gets to decide. It's like flipping a coin to decide on the name of a city - which is what happened in real life many years ago.

There was a downside. My family dog always interrupted our rock, paper, scissors, shoot! games, barking like "Ahou! Ahou! Ahou!" and we had no choice but to take care of the dog. Man, animals these days...

4. On My Boat

This one is pretty niche, but we sure played it. You had to guess a rule that someone made up. No hints, no solutions, no nothing! You had to guess purely based on luck. You could guess if you couldn't wear blue, eat potato chips, eat chicken or drink from a wine glass, among millions, billions, quintillions, and INFINITILLIONS of other rules.

So, anyways, that is it for my blog post!
