RIP Oliver Tree

 Oliver Tree Nickell (1993-2026) has died, and we shall pay our respects.

In a helicopter crash, which was recorded on CCTV cameras, the famous singer sporadically died after the impact burned him to a crisp.

Argentine YouTuber Gaspar Prim Diaz, or Gaspi, who was with Tree, died too. The crash, which is under investigation, also killed:


  • Lucas A. Vignale, Argentine screenwriter
  • Lucas Brito Chavez, music producer native to Brazil
  • Alexandre Souza, one of the pilots, and
  • Charles Marsillac, the other pilot, whom I presume is French.

How I feel

Personally, this is the OceanGate incident all over again, except it killed six people, and happened in the air, not underwater. Both incidents also had one person I really liked; in the case of the OceanGate incident, Shahzada Dawood, who was Pakistani (like me), and for that helicopter crash, Oliver Tree. I may not have heard his music until last year, but I've still committed to the listening.

I hope Oliver Tree is up there in Heaven with his scooter.

A first look at my new file extension and what to except

 I have since decided to contribute positively to the file extension world, with my new file extension .$GEMS. Today, which is January 17th, 2026, I have released it to the public. As an alternative to boring plain text, $GEMS files really hit the spot, with special text editing software to up your game! And best part? Text editors can open it too! To make an .$GEMS file, you will need to do the following: Open your text editor on desktop. Alternatively, on mobile, use a mobile-friendly text file maker. Type anything you want - be it a diary entry, movie transcript, or a note to the future. There should be a "Save as" feature on your text editor. On Windows, click on one of the dropdown menus and set it to the All files (*.*) option. Now replace ".txt" with ".$GEMS". My thoughts on LinkGuru, the new app in town

I just discovered LinkGuru, and the app's pretty good. Here's the backstory behind it. History As the friend of Arjun Reddy (a web developer not to be confused with a movie), he told me everything about the app. In 2017, Arjun, after feeling motivated by a lecture, thought, "Why not make an app?" A prototype app called Smart Videos went through, but did not make the cut. He tweaked some of the app's code and eventually released a beta version of LinkGuru with premade videos by the developer.
